Merry Christmas

Gosh I didn't realize that it had been so long, since I visited my blog. Not very diligent in staying in touch I suppose. Holidays have been a rush and hustle for me, so I am glad to see them coming to an end. Don't get me wrong, I love the family togetherness, but the rush gets me down.

Everyone was well with our family and almost everyone got together on Christmas Day. Always seems to be a glitch somewhere to prevent someone from attending the day at grandmas house, (this year it was transmission trouble for my youngest daughters family). Pa and I made up for it by spending the day after Christmas at their house. Selfishly got to enjoy the kids all to ourselves.

Tom's mom has been having some health issues, but was able to be at home with us for Christmas. She is scheduled to go to a Dr. in Johnson City TN Wednesday for more tests on her neck and spinal cord. (Some paralyse has been occurring in her legs and arms, so she is having to have round the clock care at the moment, but hoping to have some kind of surgery to correct the problem). Please keep her in your prayers in the coming weeks.

Making The Sun Shine

"WHEREVER YOU GO, NO MATTER WHAT THE WEATHER, ALWAYS BRING YOUR OWN SUNSHINE."
ANTHONY J. D’ANGELO

I am always amazed by the beauty that surrounds us as we wander around this place we call earth.

I love the serene feeling I get from seeing nature in all its glory. Sometimes when the skies turn dark and the rain is falling or it is winter and snow coming down to make the traveling treacherous, I try to always remember moments like this, so in essence I can make my own sunshine.

Rapids

Another beautiful day and another wonderful scene. Love to sit on the rocks and dangle the feet in the water. The following quote tells it all. The peacefulness that I feel when I am looking at the nature photos. God has given me such wonderful friends who share their photog..skills with me in the form of lots of nature photos. Someday I want to try my hand at this kind of photography, another thing to put on my list of things to do.

Autumn

"While the earth remaineth, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." Genesis 8:22 KJV

Wow it has been almost two weeks since I visited my blog. I've been busy,,busy,,. Traveling for training on my job, taking time off for weekend work, still making salsa from home grown veggies, getting out and enjoying the grandchildren and spending time just enjoying nature.

Fall is definitely here, the air is getting cooler and the leaves are starting to turn. Beautiful weather for long walks in the park, curling up on the front deck with a good book, and a hot cup of tea. This is definitely my favorite season of the year. God has painted the leaves such brilliant colors and the sky is so blue, you feel like you could swim away in it. The air is crisp and clean, free of the pollutants of the hot sticky summer days. Wish the entire year could be like this.

Nature

Some of the most beautiful things of nature. Sit back and enjoy.

Refections

I like to spend time enjoy the world around me, and seeking the peace that only God can bring into my life. By looking at the wonderful creation that we call earth, I know that I am just a minute particle in this hugh universe, and every living creature, large or small was created by the same God.

Quotes

How you spend your time is more important than how you spend your money. Money mistakes can be corrected, but time is gone forever. David Norris

Vacation Over

Whew!!!!!! Vacation? I need work to rest. I have had a wonderful, fun filled week, but I'm ready for it to end. Three grandchildren here every evening after school, for an hour or so..don't have the energy I used too.
My youngest child turned 30 on Wednesday, and was working in Texas, trying to restore power to the area hit by Hurricane Ike. His two children were missing him so badly that we used part of the afternoon, making daddy a birthday card at the computer. Niece also had to make one for her uncle Tim.
It is back to work for me tomorrow, don't really like weekend work, but it is a job in these difficult financial times, so I don't complain. I love my job so that makes it less stressful to work the weekends.

Fun in the sun

What a glorious day. The sky was a beautiful blue, with light lazy clouds drifting by. Perfect fall weather. I gathered the last of the potatoes from my garden, along with a few onions, that had made it past the many requests to "go get a few onions for dinner". All the tomatoes are about done for too, just a few green ones hanging on for dear life, trying to ripen, before frost claims the vines. (We don't do fried green tomatoes).
Next year I hope to have beans and corn to go with everything else. Had planned it for this year, however, time and the season, got ahead of me and I didn't get those planted. May try some other veggies too, will have to wait and see what the new year brings.
Spent the afternoon playing with three of the grandchildren, we shared lots of fun things on the front lawn, enjoying the sun and fellowship. Sometimes I am so tired I don't have as much fun with the babies as I should, but I try to live by the following quote:
“They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you make them feel.”
Carol Buchner
Time gets away from us as the babies become toddlers, then school age, then teenagers,,,,before you know it they are adults with lives of their own and don't always have time to stop in for a visit, so I want to enjoy them as much as possible now.

Take Time to Enjoy Life

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will.
You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time.
You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken.
You'll fight with your best friend.
You'll blame a new love for things an old one did.
You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.

Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin.

Imagination

Quote of the day: Live out of your imagination, not your history: Stephen Covey
I'm just going to let the quote speak for itself.

The Harvest

Quote for the day "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." John 15:5 KJV of the Holy Bible.

I have a small vegetable garden and it has produced very well. I have been canning tomatoes this morning. Great for soups, stews, or just eaten from the can with a meal. I do love fresh veggies and when they come from ones own labor, they taste even better, especially when you look at grocery prices these days.
I'm thankful that God has given us a bountiful harvest, just like He promises in His word.

Finally Friday

Today is the end of the week, the start of another weekend.

I love quotes, as a matter of fact I collect them, so I think I will add a quote to my page everytime I visit.

Todays quote is: Henry Fielding (1707 - 1754)Pay no attention to what the critics say... Remember, a statue has never been set up in honor of a critic!

I also like Friday's because it means I can sleep in on Saturday, and not have to hit the rat race of this life,,,the thing we call work, the thing that absorbs so much of our time and life away from us and our family.

I like to spend part of my weekend with those lovely grandbabies that are so much a part of my life.
When I figure out how to use this blogging thing properly, I will show you some of the most beautiful babies in the world,,,my grandchildren.

New Beginnings

I am new to blogging, so I don't know where to begin. I guess it is just like anything else, start and learn as I go. I can do that.
